How to fix WiFi drop-offs on my Mac mini M2 with 32GB RAM

Hi there, sorry did anyone find an answer. I'm using the Mac MINI m2 with 32GB ram, my broadband is connected but very slow at times and drops off, toggling on and off, seems rot solve it for a while. It seems to be a conflict with the USB-c as If I disconnect my 10TB seagate external drive, it all speeds up, any advice out there guys.

My desk has a rear-side covered cable management shelf where I stick a power strip together with a vanilla 4 port hub.

Basically, all cables from the mini placed against the wall bend into underground land leaving the desk completely invisible of cable & drive clutter. Which probably explains the steady 800 Mbps + WiFi I get.

Assuming yours doesn’t or doesn’t have room for the Seagate, try distancing its power brick, or even better, distance the drive entirely from the mini with a longer C cable, should improve. You could also try moving the port or connecting to USB-A (assuming the drive isn’t one of those spec-heavy fake SSD externals that insist on C). Good luck!

Poorly shielded USB-C cables, drives and other devices can interfere with both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Try rearranging the setup so that none of those cables, drives or devices are in between the Wi-Fi router and Mac mini. Then if that doesn't help, try standing the Mac mini on it's side with the bottom facing towards your Wi-Fi router.

After you follow all of the contributed advice, understand that the Wi-Fi radio on the M2 Mac Mini Pro is more hunter than gatherer of signal.

With a Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router twenty feet away, my M2 Mac mini Pro (also 32GB) will be connected with a 5Ghz 80 Mhz signal and a transmit rate of 1020 Mbps then an instant later at 258 Mbps, then back to 960 Mbps — constantly hunting. Using a Wi-Fi 6E (6Ghz, 160 Mhz) signal from a Netgear 5G cellular hotspot on the same desk, the signal fluctuates less between over 2GHz down to 1700 Mbps.

The average Wi-Fi 6 bandwidth is fast enough that I am not wringing my hands in frustration as the typical cable bandwidth into the house approaches 300 MB/s.
