Logic Pro 10.8.1 GUI slows down and lags when using native compressor plugin during playback

It's literally what I wrote. Any plugin is fine, but when I insert the compressor and making settings on it, the whole UI begins to lag more and more.

Of course, if it's not in playback, it's fine. But adjusting a compressor while not playing back is not so obvious!

I have other plugins from eventide, Ik Multimedia (which are great but are nasty on the cpu), and no issues while using them.

The CPU usage is very low. My current project has something like 12 tracks. On an M2 Max with 32gb of RAM, I should be fine in that department. Strangely, my old 12 Core Trashcan MacPro never had this issue.

I searched, and searched, and tried things, and so far nothing has worked or make sense.

Any help would be appreciated!
