Apple TV remote sending Sony Bravia TV into demo store mode

Did you guys ever fix the problem of the Apple TV Siri remote sending signals to your TV Sony Bravia TV and changing the picture settings into demo store mode? That was so incredibly frustrating. It is one of the reasons I switched from Apple TV to Roku. with the Roku it wasn't doing it. Thankfully I got the newest Apple Tv third generation and it doesn't seem like it's doing it but I'm scared it might still change my settings so I switched the settings to IR only. I heard this was the problem. I'd rather put it on automatic to be able to do CEC/RF but I'm scared my settings will change again lol. Isn't it healthier not to have RF anyways? I don't know. I can tell the remote control works better on automatic instead of IR only but it's not a big deal I just have to make sure I'm pointing the control towards the TV or Apple TV or whatever. By the way my TV is a 3D Sony Bravia from 2013. It is not 4K. Still works great.

I have the exact same issue with a brand new Apple TV and an older Sony TV. Every so often, repeated vol up or down commands on the Apple Remote will put the TV into Store Display mode and blow away all my settings after a required total reset of the TV.

I actually found the opposite to be true in regards to the IR vs HDMI control of the Sony. When the remote is set to control volume via HDMI, the issue will not happen. The problem is that the TV seems to revert back to IR control on the next power off/on. The Apple TV still says it’s set to HDMI vol control but it isn’t really. Simply entering the Apple TV preference pane will set it to HDMI until the text tv off/on toggle.

I have a quick check that I perform when I power on the TV. The Mute button on the Apple Remote will only mute the TV when under IR control. If the mute button works, I just open the Apple TV settings and close them. Then all is on HDMI vol control again. The Store Display mode won’t happen now but there is no mute button - something I can live with.
