Which Account?

  • Apple ID Account?
  • Carrier's Cellular Account?
  • iMessage & FaceTime?
  • WhatsApp Account?
  • Trusted Phone Numbers for Apple ID?

The two devices linked to your phone number could be connected to several different accounts. Here's a breakdown of the possibilities you mentioned:

  • Carrier's Cellular Account: This is the most likely culprit. Your carrier is the company that provides your cell phone service and assigns your phone number. It's possible they are showing two devices linked to your account, even if one is just a secondary device receiving calls and texts over data.
  • Apple ID Account: An iPhone 11 would likely be linked to your Apple ID account. However, Apple ID typically wouldn't show multiple devices for a single phone number. It's more likely the carrier is showing the duplication.
  • iMessage & FaceTime: iMessage and FaceTime use your Apple ID and phone number to connect with other Apple devices. It's unlikely that this would show two separate devices for your phone number.
  • WhatsApp Account: WhatsApp allows you to link a web or desktop app to your phone number, but this wouldn't show up as a separate device on your carrier account.
  • Trusted Phone Numbers for Apple ID: Two-factor authentication for your Apple ID can use trusted phone numbers to receive a verification code when you log in. This wouldn't show up as a separate device on your carrier account either.

In conclusion, it's most likely an issue with your carrier showing two devices linked to your cellular account number. However, contacting your carrier's customer service is the best way to diagnose the exact cause.

Call your carrier's customer service department and explain that you're seeing two devices linked to your account when you only have one phone. They can investigate the issue and help you determine the cause.

You might have a secondary device, like a tablet or smartwatch, linked to your phone number for receiving calls or texts. These devices often use a data connection to receive calls and texts instead of a traditional SIM card.
