Either the Apple Store will send the laptop out to a repair depot which would take at least 3 days (one day shipping each way & one day for the repair & testing...best case), or the tech will need to order a replacement battery which will take at least one or two days to ship, and a day to install & test. And these times can vary by region as well and parts availability and shipping conditions.
Just because they may say 3 days, count on it possibly being longer if something goes wrong. Sometimes the replacement part received by the tech could be faulty (rare, but it does happen), or they may discover another issue while performing the repair that was not obvious during testing. No one should ever promise you any guaranteed timeline because there are too many unknown variables. At best, a tech can tell you what the current average turn around time would be under ideal conditions & situations.
