Every time I try and download an app from the App Store it tells me that I need to update my iOS to at least 13 or higher to use this app?? But when I check for updates it tells me my iPhone is up to date. Please help, this is my first iPhone and so far I’m not too impressed. Thinking of going back to my Samsung where things just make sense?? Please help

The others already helped you by pointing out that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are obsolete; that if you need to run modern apps, it's past time to buy a newer iPhone. A much newer iPhone.
I would suggest buying one that will be able to run iOS 18 when iOS 18 comes out. There's a list of compatible phones near the bottom of the iOS 18 Preview page.
