How to update iPhone 6 Plus to iOS 13

Every time I try and download an app from the App Store it tells me that I need to update my iOS to at least 13 or higher to use this app?? But when I check for updates it tells me my iPhone is up to date. Please help, this is my first iPhone and so far I’m not too impressed. Thinking of going back to my Samsung where things just make sense?? Please help

The answer has been given several times, please go back and read through them. You cannot run anything higher than iOS 12 on your iPhone 6.

If you feel a Samsung phone would better suit you, then you should get one.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus can only be updated to IOS 12. You're probably seeing that message because your phone is already on the most recent version of IOS 12 available.

That phone has been classed as obsolete by Apple. If the newest phone isn't in your budget you may find something newer than what you have at a reasonable price. I've linked a chart below that tells you the maximum OS version each iPhone can run.

Do you have an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, SE (1st generation), 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, XS Max, or XR? If you have one of those iPhones, and you have kept it from automatically updating past iOS 12, your phone should be offering you an update now. It will not be to iOS 13 or 14, but to an appropriate higher version. You might need to use a Mac or PC to update your phone if you have been deferring updates for this long.

Frankly, I can't think of a reason why anyone with an iPhone that could update to iOS 15 (possibly later) would still be running iOS 12 (or earlier) after all this time.

If you have an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, you cannot update to iOS 13. Those phones do not have the hardware required to run anything later than iOS 12. For one thing, they have only 1 GB of RAM. Every iPhone that is able to run later versions of iOS has at least 2 GB of RAM. I doubt that this is a coincidence.

If you want to run modern apps, you will need to get a newer iPhone, preferably one that's compatible with iOS 18.
