Bluetooth headset with microphone that pairs with a iPhone that's not an ear-bud

I need a headset with a microphone boom that pairs with an iPhone ... thank you Apple engineers for failing to think about a user being able to use a diversity of product lines beyond Apple

I have tried headsets with a microphone pick-up somewhere on the headset, but it picks up too many stray noises and what I say is difficult for others to hear. I need a boom microphone closer to my mouth.

The current problem I'm facing is Bluetooth devices is not able to pair with the iPhone because of different de facto Bluetooth standards

Headset product advertisements laud all the qualities of their devices but fail to identify if they're compatible with iPhone Bluetooth standards

Of course, Google searches aren't very helpful

So what should I look for when I'm searching for compatiable headset devices ?

and as typical, I'm talking about my iPhone and this page fails to provide me that option so I have to say my MacBook just to move on to complete this questionnaire
