iPhone SE vs. iPhone 6

My wife uses an iPhone SE that is relatively new (to her, it's been refurbished. I am unclear about her phone. Is it a re-developed version of an older iPhone? I'm particularly concerned that if it is a re-engineered older unit, made for those folks resistant to change and so forth, is it an iPhone 6 that now is causing backup or iOS version updates an iMAC users need to downgrade to High Sierra OS or risk facing operating issues within iOS?

If what I'm asking about is remotely close to being factual and something we need to address soon, could anyone in the forum please reach out with ideas, solutions or a direction to pursue, it will be appreciated greatly. Thank-you.

It's interesting that you compare the iPhone 6 (released in 2014) with the iPhone SE 3rd Gen (2022). While they might share a similar design aesthetic, the iPhone SE 3rd Gen boasts significantly more up-to-date technology. Is there a specific feature from the iPhone 6 you're curious about seeing in the newer model?

The iPhone SE 3rd Gen distinguishes itself from the iPhone 6 as a thoroughly modern device. While it draws inspiration from the design language of the iPhone 8, it boasts cutting-edge internals. Here's a closer look:

  1. Cutting-edge Performance: Launched in March 2022, the iPhone SE 3rd Gen features the latest A15 Bionic chip, the same powerhouse found in the iPhone 13 lineup. This ensures exceptional performance and guarantees compatibility with forthcoming software updates, promising a seamless user experience for years ahead.
  2. Outdated iPhone 6: In stark contrast, the iPhone 6, introduced in 2014, pales in comparison. Its hardware and software are significantly outdated when weighed against the SE 3. Furthermore, with software support discontinued in 2018, the iPhone 6 is left exposed to potential security vulnerabilities, making it unsuitable for contemporary needs.

Here's a quick comparison:

iPhone SE 3 (2022): Processor A15 Bionic, Camera12MP, Front Camera 7 MP

iPhone 6 (2014): ProcessorA8 BionicRear, Camera 8MP, Front Camera 1.2MP

So, your wife's iPhone SE 3 is a good choice. It will not cause backup issues or require downgrading your iMac. It will likely be much faster and more secure than an iPhone 6.
