How can I stop my Apple TV from restarting so frequently?

My apple tv that I got a couple of months ago is restarting randomly almost every time I use it. Sometimes it restarts once, and on a night like tonight where I take to the community it has restarted at least 5 times. I have reset the apple tv numerous times to no avail, and yes the software is up to date. I am at a loss. Is this something I should take to the Apple Store, or would that be a dead end as well?

restarting randomly

When this happens, does the status light go out, then start blinking for ~15 sec or so, before glowing continuously again? If not, then it wouldn’t have been an actual device restart, but something else that possibly gets it to show a black screen.

Is this something I should take to Apple …

From your description, yes, you should talk to Apple about it.

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support (phone numbers)

Get support - Apple Support (start your [software] support request online)

If the Support staff asserts that it probably is a software issue, then consider a ‘factory reset’ for the device. Reset or restore your Apple TV to its factory settings - Apple Support

Get support - Apple Support (start your [hardware] support request online)

If the Support staff asserts that it probably is a hardware issue, then take the device in to Apple (or mail it in, if they offer that). For going to a retail store, it is best to make a reservation then. Genius Bar reservation and Apple Support options - Apple

The model number is A2737. When I was watching this afternoon I made sure to check the status light when it restarted about 15 minutes into watching and it does go out for a time, blinks for roughly fifteen seconds and then goes sold. I will add that the apple logo pops up on the tv and then goes back to the home screen. I have reset the device back to factory before and nothing changed. Is there anything else I should try before bringing the device to the apple store or is that my best course of action?
