Apple watch Series 9 can't connect.

I just got a apple watch series 9. I have a Iphone 13 with iOS 17.3.1 and it says my watch cant connect and that it needs a newer version of iOS. What do i need to do to get it to work.

Have you tried to update the phone to latest iOS version 17.4.1 is newest version

thats what im doing right now ill tell you when its done its been updating for the past hour and a half
