Do not buy a smartwatch if you have an iPhone 8

After rolling out the OS 10 update Apple Watches are no longer compatible with iPhone8 due to their inability to access the i0s17 update. Apple still lists them as compatible with iphone8 on the product specs however and any further information is conveniently buried under asterisks on a separate page listing compatible devices. You’re essentially buying a brick and Apple couldn’t even be arsed to change the spec info after this update. Very deceptive

As specified at watchOS 10 - Apple


watchOS 10 requires iPhone XS or later with iOS 17 and one of the following Apple Watch models:


  • Apple Watch Series 4
  • Apple Watch Series 5
  • Apple Watch SE
  • Apple Watch Series 6
  • Apple Watch Series 7
  • Apple Watch Series 8
  • Apple Watch Series 9
  • Apple Watch Ultra
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2
