Cellular network off after 17.4.1 update

Last night I updated to the most recent version, 17.4.1, and today my cellular network suddenly dropped and quit working. I tried everything I could think of, restarting, turning airplane mode on for a bit and back off, etc. nothing. So I called my carrier, AT&T and two different people could not figure out why my phone wouldn’t work.

I figure it was the update. Now when I go into general in settings and about, I get the pop up that I need to update my carrier settings but when I click update, it closes the window and does nothing. I NEED my phone for work and I’m getting nowhere. I’m hoping someone else has this issue or at least Apple knows what they messed up and will release a fix soon because I need to be able to make calls and right now my phone makes no calls unless it’s through Facebook messenger over WiFi.

Help!? Anyone?

The quickest and easiest way to fix this is go to your settings and search “reset” and click the first option, then click the “reset” button NOT “ERASE ALL CONTENT” and it should bring up about 5 options to reset. Click on “Reset network settings” and after approximately 5 minutes your iPhone will turn back on functioning perfectly. NOTE: if this does not work you need to back up your iPhone and fully reset it but that will 100% fix the issue

This happened to my iPad Pro 11-inch 1st gen. I have a physical SIM card on my iPad. I use mobile data rarely as I'm always on Wifi at home and in the office. However, recently I turned my iPad on and tried to use the internet using mobile data. iPad did not connect to mobile data, however. Tried to disable and enable mobile data, reboot the iPad, reset network settings etc., but still the mobile data won't connect. I can't see my network provider in the system - > General --> about. The network provider shows as iPad 58.0. System --> Mobile data shows up to purchase a new data plan. Data plans from my country is not available. Available data plans are GigSky & RedTeaGo. This is quite surprising as I lost the data and I'm very sure it is post 17.x update.

My physical sim card is working fine on another phone/tablet. I got the sim card checked with my network provider and confirmed all is good.

Only option left to try is e-sim.

As I am writing this I am on the phone with Apple. They don’t know what’s going on. The exact same thing happens to me no service, carrier update shows up but nothing happened. Tried bunch of things nothing worked. Called tmobile telling me nothing is wrong with the service. It might be the IOS update

The recent iOS updates 17.4 and 17.5 gave me similar probs, called Apple support and after talking to a terrible customer service rep, bad headset, mumbling, not knowing what to do, I abandoned ship and called back and got a quick fix to - RESET THE IPHONE, which is tricky when it’s not working! My screen was totally locked up, no cell service, wouldn’t take log in, wouldn’t power down, etc

so here goes- pending on which iPhone you have you quickly press up volume then down volume , then press and hold right power button for about 10 seconds , until you get Apple logo, mine took me a couple times, until I took off my iPhone cover to get better access to buttons,

RESULT - rebooted phone, got cell service back, then I turned off all the settings on auto updates , PHONE BEEN WORKING FINE SINCE

( to reset other iPhones you might have to hold down menu button , if there is one, and power button for about 10-15 seconds)
