Your computer is being remotely controlled press the escape key to stop the connection

I have a Mac Mini that was previously used headless in a closet, but now I have it on a desktop with a screen connected and still connect remotely when needed.

The Mac Mini's screen remains blank if I use screen sharing app to access it from my MacBook Pro. If I then use the Mac Mini's mouse or keyboard to try to wake it up I can hear my laptop in the next room say:

Your computer is being remotely controlled press the escape key to stop the connection

Is it possible to have the Mac Mini screen and remote screen mirroring working simultaneously? If not how can I stop screen sharing from the Mac Mini when I can't see what is going on?

regards

Steve

Problem solved!!

If I select High Performance then the local screen is turned off, standard mirrors the local screen!

It is mentioned in the help but searching did not reveal that fact.

"If you authenticate using the name of the user logged in to the target Mac, the hardware displays connected to that Mac are blanked to give you privacy. This also means no one can use that Mac while you’re using High Performance screen sharing."

Hello,

on the MacMini File Sharing, Screen Sharing and Remote Login (ssh) are the only options enabled.

I tried to set the remote management on and off again and re-tested but the issue remains.

I did note on the MacBook Pro the window hosting the Remote Desktop shows the computer name, and underneath it is the word 'Locked' - perhaps this is referring to the screen of the MacMini?
