IOS update 17.4.1 stuck on new iPhone 15. No status bar. Says "update requested". Tried deleting update and requesting it again. No change. Phone is 100% charged and is also connected to WIFI. Picked up this new phone this at 10 a.m. this morning. It's 2 p.m. and the update still says 'update requested' but doesn't show any update status.
I had the same issue with my new IPhone 15 Pro yesterday and was able to set up today successfully by following these steps (keep in mind I use windows PC)
1- Set up your phone without restoring data from cloud or another phone (3rd option)
2-Sign into your ID and access your phone
3- Open ITunes from PC, make sure iTunes has latest Update
4- Connect your new phone to laptop/PC to connect to ITunes
5- After IPhone is identified in ITunes it will either ask you to automatically update to new IOS or you will have to manually choose it from setting (it works either way)
6- After download is completed, it will automatically install it on your phone (it took me 40 min to complete, upgrade size was 8GB and my connection was slow)
7- After new IOS is successfully downloaded on your phone, make sure to check it from general, software update (it will state your phone has latest version)
8- Sign out of apple ID
9- Go to General, transfer or reset phone
10-Erase all content and settings and confirm
11- IPhone will restart again and restart the process of setting up the phone
12- choose the option of transferring data from your other iPhone or restore from cloud (I chose to transfer from my old iPhone)
That’s it.. it will transfer data successfully and not ask for IOS update again
TIPS..
1- If you have already downloaded the software and it’s stuck, make sure to delete it from iPhone storage before starting this process
2- If your download is painfully slow (2 or 3 hours) then reset network settings! It worked for me straight away

Been on hold with support forever and when they finally answer , I am told it has been an issue/problem all day. But rather than admit it’s a software issue, I am told it’s a potential hardware issue and they can make an appointment at Apple for me. Or maybe it will be fixed by tomorrow. 🙄 Very disappointing !
kinda in the same boat, just bought a new 15 today, while installing the update during the setup process before it starts the icloud backup im stuck on about 1 second remaining for like 3 hours at this point, bar hasnt moved stuck like halfway
Here in Germany too. New IPhone 15 Pro Max and can’t update to IOS 17.4.1.
Same problem with my MacBook Air. I didn’t used my MacBook for a while, yesterday I checked for updates….Downloaded the update but then waiting for hours….
I’m also facing the same issue ! Upgraded iphone 15 pro this afternoon. I started to migrate the phone at the store waited for hours and then thought it will be better ti get it done from home. Last 4 hiurs my new iphone 15 is getting updated !
I talked to a lady last night at Tech Support and she told me there was no problem with the update that sometimes it just takes a little while to get there. I told her she needs to get on the Internet and see everybody who’s having problems.
Bought brand new iPhone 15 pro max with lot expectation and it's getting update requested since last 4 hours nothing happening... Frustrating 😏
Apple Support, No meaning for this term "Support" or give a clause before we buy that we need min these many hours to get load your expensive brand new iPhone 😭
I’m trying to resolve this for a family member. Their iPhone 14 automatically updated over night to iOS 17.4.1. Appears the update completed but apps crashed all morning. The phone then bricked itself and is not turning on. Stuck at the Apple Logo. I’ve tried all sorts of hard reboots/cycles with the power button and volume up/down. Nothing will get this phone to turn on. Apple support does not have a solution right now. They told me to wait until a new update is pushed and to try to update this phone from iTunes. Ugh. This is precisely why I choose Apple. But they are failing.
Same problem, Apple. iPhone 14 plus bought 2 months ago won't upgrade to iOS 17.4.1. Stuck on "Preparing Update..." for up to 6 hours so far and counting. Even after a hard reboot (vol up, down, hold power) it still won't advance through the process. Yes it's fully charged and plugged in and on WIFI. Help please!
Similar issue I’m having trying to update my 6th gen iPad. No problem downloading the update but can’t get beyond attempting to verify the update before getting an error message saying “retry or remind me later”… Kinda wild this issue is beyond one type of device.
Same problem. iPhone 13. It’s draining my battery because it won’t update. I’ve tried deleting it, re-downloading, and turning phone off/on. Ideally I don’t want to update on a laptop. Hopefully they push a new update soon.
I bought a new Ipad and when i get to the software update part it wont update. Says 1 second remaining. 4 hours first time. Tried hard reboot and 6 hours second time. Fully charged and hooked to wifi.
I just now bought the new 15 Pro because my other older iPhone just broke... and I need a phone.
I cant use the phone and have no phone at all..
Until? I have no Idea..

Nailed it. Same boat. New phone, software update delays unsuccessful after every type of reset, charging, multipe attempts and variations, and support call. This was the process that finally worked. Thanks
You’d better off skip this update.. it’s full of ****.. my sleep health alarm won’t go off in the morning.. so much like iOS 16 bugs vibe with this 17.4.1 update..
Apple software engineers are some of the most idiotic engineers that there is out there.

But when I went to refresh the phone it again forced me to complete a software update to 17.4.1, so apparently the OS update didn't stick. Getting very annoyed with this.
