IOS 17.4.1 update stuck

IOS update 17.4.1 stuck on new iPhone 15. No status bar. Says "update requested". Tried deleting update and requesting it again. No change. Phone is 100% charged and is also connected to WIFI. Picked up this new phone this at 10 a.m. this morning. It's 2 p.m. and the update still says 'update requested' but doesn't show any update status.

Same problem, Apple. Brand new iPhone 15 bought today won't upgrade to iOS 17.4.1. Stuck on "Preparing Update..." for up to 6 hours so far and counting. Even after a hard reboot (vol up, down, hold power) it still won't advance through the process. Yes it's fully charged and plugged in and on WIFI. Help please!

What’s worked for me as a Tmobile dealer is setting up the new phone, plugged in to power. Leave the old phone turned off. Set up the new phone delaying everything until later. Select “Tonight” for when to update the phone. When it gives you the screen to ask if you want to download it now, select that (not the cancel button).

Then factory reset. Then connect with old phone.

I had the same problem.

I fixed it with connecting the iPhone 15 PRO MAX to my pc, open iTunes, pressed on Update iPhone in iTunes but also pressed update on the iPhone on the phone.

The phone somehow crashed and got in a state where it said that I HAD to connect it with a PC and restore the iPhone through it.

Simply did that. Connected it to my pc, clicked on restore iPhone in iTunes and updated it.

Easy

I had the same issue with my iPad Pro, support wanted me to delete all my VPN connections and reset my networks and cellular settings. They said VPN entries could be causing the issue (even if VPN was off).

I decided NOT to follow that recommendation, but knowing that VPN or Wireless could be an issue, I did the following:

-Rebooted iPad.

-Turned cell data off

-Turned wifi off

-Connect the iPad via Ethernet

-Enabled one of my VPN connections

-update completed successfully in a few minutes

If you have a VPN entry, try enabling it over wifi and see if that alone does the trick.

Else, try the Ethernet option.

Good Luck!

It’s a bloody nightmare and the apple staff I’m speaking to will not admit it. They will not admit there is a corrupt update and try and make out it’s just me. I’ve asked them over and over have you corrected this corrupt update . They will not answer the question .

they will not admit she just tell me when a new upgrade will be available to correct this issue.

Be happy it won’t update because this update is TERRIBLE! Completely ruined my phone. My contacts are gone, also not showing on the phone app so when I get a call the name doesn’t show, only the number. I can’t give any of my apps permission to access my microphone and camera so it’s bye bye to instagram and Snapchat and ad everything else. All of the apps are ruined and it’s no way to allow permissions for any of the apps because that feature is now removed from your settings.

Just leaving this here for someone else.

Woke up with the phone stuck on apple logo, Volume up, volume down and power didn't work.

Here are some steps I did to bring it back to life

Connected to my windows computer (downloaded iTunes from Microsoft store)

- volume up-volume down and power button several times until iTunes recognized it

prompt to update or restore, (update did not fix it so I restored it)

Threw an error 1110,

Volume up - volume down and power button again until iTunes recognized it again and press restore,.

phone came back to life, now im restoring it from iCloud.

I call Support and they suggested connecting my device to my PC and downloading the update after opening said device on my PC. It worked perfectly and I was able to complete setup of my new device.

Seems like this would work in most situations. My MacBook recognized my iPad immediately after connected it via the usb-c. I had to “allow” the connection via a pop-up. I then found my device in FINDER where I was then able to open the options for the device. The SOFTWARE UPDATE option was at the top of the menu. It took about 15 mins for the update to download on my MacBook but after that my device was good to go.

Setting up a new iPhone 15 as a new phone, with just your icloud account (rather than copying from exisiting device) then connecting it to a mac, works to do the update to 17.4.1. The new phone will be on the left hand devices menu in Finder - follow the option to update it via your Mac. You will of course get several security checks along the way. Then after its done, erase the phone and then you can copy from your existing device, since it will retain the 17.4.1 update. I dont know what people can do to resolve this issue, if they dont have access to these helpful boards.

Same problem, Apple! New iPhone 15 stuck on downloading iOS 17.4.1 The progress bar is stuck at "2 hrs remaining" And this is my third restart. The first time it went up to "7 hrs remaining". I run a business, and most of it goes through my phone. Now, I'm without a phone for over six hours waiting for Software Update. This is sooo non-Apple. For what it's worth I will give iPhone 15 one star rating.
