Hi, for some reason my Mac insists on displaying this ghost image of some kind of lock icon. It's just a partial square in the top right of my screen (more visible on a dark background). It doesn't appear on the lock screen, only once I sign into my account. I've ruled out the display since it persists despite whatever changes I make to the display settings. It's probably some app that got into a bad state, but I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

old issue, new issue, what changed?
Have you shut down and restarted more than once ?
Hard to tell the context from your limited screenshot how this fits into your "top right" (?)
no resolve to your glitch you can try A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies.
UPDATE: I ended up having to do a forced reboot of my system, and that cleared the image from my screen.
Old issue, been happening for a few weeks. I think I figured out what it is:
As for "top right" I just mean that it appears in the general area of the "top right" corner of my screen, near the status menus, notification center, clock, etc. Where it appears is probably not too relevant, I guess.
Anyways it doesn't appear on a fresh startup, so I'm guessing it has something to do with the Mac going to sleep/waking up.
I'm getting that same image in the bottom-center of my screen, although in my case it's about the same size as your blown-up version. Mine doesn't go away when I restart the Mac. I don't know what's causing it. I have a Logitech MX keyboard, and I thought it might be associated with that. However, that hasn't helped me to zero in on a solution yet.
