Sudden WIFI Issues with four Apple devices

About a week ago four of my households Apple devices just stopped connecting to wifi all at once. Two of our laptops say they are on wifi in the top corner but when you go to a website it says there is no connection. Both of our iPhones say they are connected and to wifi in the settings but the top corner says 5G. All four devices are stuck at a 169. IP address.

It’s not our wifi we called our service provider and they checked everything out and it’s working as it should. This wifi connects to all other devices in the house including an IPad.

Feels like we have tried everything to fix this issue and nothing works. Here’s what we have tried:

-turning wifi on/off

-forgetting network to reconnect

-restarting devices/router

-resetting network settings multiple times

-none of our devices have a VPN on them

-Configuring DNS to a public 8.8.8.8 network

-Renewing the DHCP licenses

Any ideas how to fix? Or even what could be happening? Our only thought is maybe the 17.4.1 update broke some kind of connection?

No, it is DEFINITELY your Wi-Fi router. It is the ONLY common element from your description.

A 169.254 IP address means that the router is not assigning IP addresses when a device tries to connect. This is clearly a router problem. So you need to identify why the DHCP daemon in the router is not doing its job. Start by unplugging the router from the wall for 30 seconds; don’t just turn it off, because most modern routers do not turn off completely with the power switch.

It may also be an indication that your router has been hacked; make sure it has the latest firmware update.

As a test of the iPhones and laptops, do they connect to other Wi-Fi networks, such as Starbucks, MacDonalds, or your local library?
