Unable to mount Crucial X9 2TB SSD.

This worked until just this week. I believe there has been a Mac operating system update since I used this last. Cables are good. La Cie mounts on the same port and connector just fine. In disk doctor can see the X9 is not mounted. Cannot mount it manually. Disk is formatted as exFAT. This is a new storage device, only 2 months old.

Do you have a Windows device/another computer? Try plugging it in to that device, then back into the Mac.


If you don't need the drive for a Windows device, you should consider using APFS. The file system exFAT is intended for cross-compatiblity with macOS/Windows and can be unstable. If there's no important data on it, you can format it which should fix it.
