Stop read receipts

Please help me turn off my read receipts!! Any suggestions that have worked?

Have you opened the Settings app > Messages - Turn off Send Read Receipts

Read receipts I have an iPhone XR, my iOS is up to date. My read receipts are off but someone has recently notified me that they can always see when I’ve read their messages. They’ve also sent me screenshots to prove it.

Yes, I did. I also restarted the phone several times.
