My macbook pro will not turn on

Hello! I have a Macbook Pro that will not turn on. I can't tell if it isn't

charged or something is wrong, but it was on a charger for most of the day yesterday. I very very rarely use it, it hasn't been turned on in maybe 6 months. but its only maybe 2 years old

More than likely the battery was completely drained after sitting for six months especially if it was only sleeping. When a battery is completely drained after sitting for a long time it may not be able to power on the laptop and the battery may not even charge. It can even cause permanent damage to the Lithium battery.

If you have an Intel laptop, then you can try an SMC Reset (read the instructions carefully since the procedure is different for some models).

Make sure the charger is connected directly to the laptop & disconnect all other external devices.

Otherwise you will need to take the laptop to Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined & most likely given an estimate for repair.

FYI, any device with a Lithium battery needs to always maintain a battery charge level over 20%, so if you are storing a device for a while, you need to make sure to store it with about 70% charge. You also need to check on it periodically to make sure the battery charge level remains in the 20% - 70% range to maintain the health of the Lithium battery. How long a device can remain completely powered off before needing to check or charge the battery differs between devices so you will need to experiment until you discover when the battery needs to be checked & charged. See the last section of the following Apple article where Apple says charge it every six months assuming the laptop was stored completely powered off:
