Downloading Yahoo Mail app to iMac (desktop)
This may well be a silly (ignorant ) question but is it possible to download
the Yahoo Mail app to a DESKTOP (IMac )?

I do not see a separate Yahoo mail app for computers. You can check Yahoo mail with a browser at mail.yahoo.com. However, I have yahoo set up as a second account in Apple Mail as rkaufmann87 has suggested.
Either works. Apple Mail gives you more options with "rules " to block spam.
