Time Machine backup uses a newer OS than iMac can run

Hi I have a 2013 iMac that I recently managed to install Sonoma onto even though It is too outdated for Sonoma. I then made a Time Machine backup of that computer. Long story short I had to downgrade the iMac back to Catalina and now can’t use my Time Machine backup presumably because It was a backup of a computer running sonoma. Any ideas? Thanks guys

You can launch TM and manually locate & restore your data files. You will want to avoid any of the macOS libraries such as iTunes/Music, Video, and Photo libraries because their data formats may have changed & be incompatible with an older OS.

Currently it’s on 10.15.7 and it’s a late 2013 iMac. I had sonoma installed on It but then had to make a partition in order to install Catalina. I was having trouble with my sonoma so I decided to attempt to reinstall OS but disk utility was unable to find the disk where I’d installed sonoma. I then made a partition and installed Catalina on the new partition, but I can’t access my original sonoma disk at all.
