Can't use my phone outside because the screen dims to black

To disable adaptive brightness on your iPhone, follow these simple steps:

1. Unlock your iPhone and open the Settings app.
2. Scroll down and tap on Display & Brightness.
3. In the Display & Brightness settings, you will find the Auto-Brightness option.
4. Tap on it to access the settings.
5. Toggle the Auto-Brightness switch to disable this feature.

You should now be able to adjust your brightness to the correct conditions.

My iPhone 11 will cap the brightness at 50% if it starts getting too hot from being outside. This is just a feature to keep it from overheating and frying the system.

So auto does not work, nice. Bright areas need full brightness of the screen, which is not fully legible in sunlight even when new

Thank you for trying to help. Unfortunately your suggestion didn’t work. Problem persists.

I just discovered that coming back in my house and perhaps after my phone cooled down from being out in the sun… the dimness went back to my chosen settings.
