How do I remove the "Activation Lock" on a MacBook Air M1?

I have M1 Macbbok air which I received from my cross team in US. Macbook is set with Apple ID. Cross team doesn't remember password or Apple Id. I have tried factory reset but not possible due to Apple ID activation. Please provide any useful solution otherwise that device is trash to me. I have tried all possible solution and I don't intend to travel to remote place to visit Apple Store.

You don’t. Apple can remove the activation lock for the original purchaser of the device if they present the original proof of purchase from Apple or an authorized retailer.

Yep it is trash if you are unable to get the credentials to unlock it. The person who purchased the MacBook would need to provide the original purchase receipt from Apple for them to unlock it.
