2012-2020 21.5” iMacs are notoriously VERY slow due to using a 5400 rpm HD. What you can try though is resetting the Bluetooth but you will need a usb mouse to do it.
if the reset doesn’t do the trick then about the only thing is getting an external SSD to use as your start up drive however for an 11 year old machine I’d upgrade to a new Mac Mini!
