notes/scanned documents/text no longer available for text to speech - accessibly feature in the new IOS update 17.4.1

With this new update I am no longer able to use my Notes section to scan a page of text i.e a document or book and have it read to me through the accessibility feature or text to speech. I've been using this feature for a long time without issue and this latest update does not allow me to select the text to read to me.
