Disable audio for an app

I gather there’s no way to disable audio for an app unless that app provides a way to disable sound in its settings.

Is there another way to kill the sound for a specific app?

TRIED

I checked iOS Sound and Accessibility settings but see nothing.

Tried the app’s settings without success.

DETAILS

Disabling audio a iOS settings seems like a no-brainer for many users. I often use Flipboard (Fb – news aggregator) that loves to show video stories and ads. I also listen to Apple Music / Spotify.

Problem is that Fb takes over audio immediately even if there’s so video or ad showing so I can never listen to music while browsing news on this app. It’s greedy and that’s stupid.

I’ve emailed them multiple times but they either don’t care or it serves a purpose to annoy their users (I assume they get money for video engagement and so want to ensure users are tuned in at all times).

HELP OTHERS

I have other apps that do this too and so I assume others must experience the same issue. Seems like ability to disable sound for an app at iOS Settings level would help a lot of users.
