A few days ago, I received $30 into Apple Pay from somebody I don’t know. They alerted me to the error and asked by that I send the money back. I am being very cautious just in case this is a new kind of scam. Is there any reason I shouldn’t send the money? Can this person gain any of my personal financial information if I send the $30 back?

You’re welcome. Leave the funds there and if it is a legitimate claim, the bank will request a return of funds through the bank that received the fraudulent funds.
Do not engage with texts etc. Call the local branch or call the number printed on the back of the card.
I have an update on my transaction. Apple connected me to Green Dot. They specifically told me they cannot undo the transaction. They said the only way this person gets their money back is if I send it to them.
They did, however, verify that the transaction was real.
On the advice of Chatanoogan, I went in and turned auto-accept off.
What a mess.
For future reference, you might consider turning AppleCash’s Auto Accept “off.”

I just got this but the transaction is $380.00. My first thought is certainly OMG this has to be a scam.
