I recently got scammed $75 on my Apple Pay and still have the receipt. Is this money something I can get back?

This scammer called me and told me how they sent $75 to the wrong apple pay account and requested for it back. “coincidentally” it was when i transferred $100 to my apple wallet. I saw the request for $75 but with my $100 it looked like $175 i sent the $75 back only to be confused when i was left with $25. I tried calling and texting to sort out the matter but they blocked me so i had no way if contacting them.

Please help this was my valentine’s day money😔🙏

Apple cash is cash. There’s no un-do.

The money that was sent was quite possibly from a stolen credit card, which will usually get clawed back by the banks. (Yeah, banks and credit card providers can get to play by different rules.)

Might want to change your settings for Apple Cash too, and require manually accepting any incoming payments.

The official answer to your question, per Apple:

Cancel or dispute a payment

  1. Open the Messages app, then open the conversation and tap the payment.
  2. Your Apple Cash card will open in the Wallet app. Under Latest Transactions, tap the payment, then tap it again.
  3. Tap Cancel Payment.

If you don't see Cancel Payment, the person has already accepted the payment. Try asking the recipient to send the money back to you instead.

Depending on your bank or card issuer, it might take 1-5 business days for the money to be refunded.

Apple Cash person-to-person payments are like any other private transaction between two people, so only send and receive money with people you know. If you have questions or concerns about a transaction, please contact us.
