MacBook Pro late 2013 no longer updates to latest operating system - is it safe if I have antivirus protection?
I have a late 2013 MacBook Pro. It still works fine(ish) and I can’t really afford to buy a new one - I feel like until it completely stops working, why replace a workable machine.
It’s not able to update to the latest operating system update, and my 2019 windows for Mac doesn’t work as it won’t allow updates on the operating system I am on, but I can live without that if I have to.
my biggest confusion is - if I am not getting Apple’s latest security patches etc., but I have an Intego package for virus and scanning etc am I not therefore covered from virus attacks and vulnerabilities via that package?
I didn’t use to have this, as I knew it was not needed but bought it about 6 months ago when I figured I may not be supported by Apple anymore, so not quite sure what the point is if it doesn’t cover me at the point I can no longer update the operating system.
Am I safe / is it a “kind of” replacement protection now that I am running a machine too old for Apple to provide protection for me?
Hope the above makes sense and someone can help me understand what is/isn’t my protection status!!
Many thanks 😊
