What’s the point of the Security Delay?

I understand that it’s an “added layer of protection” or whatever but honestly it feels useless… If my phone is stolen or lost it has a passcode on it.. A stranger is not getting into my settings and changing my Apple ID. To begin the security delay it does a biometric scan so it knows it you.. so why do I have to wait an hour for it to rescan me to confirm it’s still me?? Also my home address is on my Apple ID and I’m at home, like I always am, but still it’s saying I’m not near a recognized location. I’m just confused as to what the setting even does other than create headaches. Even after reading the article on Apples website I still don’t understand.

This function is so flawed. I am at home, which is familiar place, but it is still ask me to wait for 1 hr. Obviously I won’t be sit there and wait for 1 hr, and I can’t see any notification. All I know is that when I got back, it ask me to wait another hour again. This is so useless function! Change it APPLE!

The point is to make the life of the iPhone user (and person who actually bought the iPhone) harder, while making Apple continue having profit by making us locked into the same ecosystem of Apple and ICloud.

I know my passport, I own my face (obviously), and even after typing the correct password and having my face recognized, I still need to wait one more hour to sign off from iCloud. It’s an absurd made just to make people forget and not follow up with the idea of sign off iCloud. It’s made to make our life harder. “Securely” is an excuse.

Android is so much better in everything! I hate iPhone on so many levels and would hope this feature is not ever enabled but of course the developers did this on purpose. F Apple!

Agreed, it is useless function and it’s annoying. It has some risks when we are in emergency situations - we cannot wait for one hour to complete the tasks.

For the security risks, it did not mitigate anything. The theft can wait for one hour when he/ she has passcode. What is the meaning of delay and based on which statistic to come up with this function?

Security Delay helps prevent someone from making changes to settings that can lock you out of your iPhone or Apple ID account. You don't have to use it. But it's just one more way, to keep you safe should someone come in possession of your iPhone.

A scenario that I try to use most of the time, is Guided Access, it is required an arguably amount of trust to decide to restrict a lovely companion to use a powerful source within my device! It’s only seconds away for you to retract your decision, and why not extend the fraction to the key of your protection. Can’t cover all the angles at once, or can I…? Ingenuity is a tool for all and am challenged to test mine and what I’ve acquired through the journey!

Thanks for sharing more, if this helps!
