What’s the point of the Security Delay?

Like most other people, I’m also at home. I appreciate any extra level of security, and the function is is noble, but I have an iPhone SE 3gen, and it doesn’t have face recognition. That might encourage potential thieves just to cut my fingers or hands off.

Using that logic, you are far better off with Touch ID than what would be required for Face ID.

Yes, and now it’s September Apple will lose sales because no one can deactivate stolen device protection when they want to trade in their phones. Significant Locations is on, my home address has been registered on my phone since I got it, but I still need to wait an hour EXACTLY (no longer or it makes you start again! Face ID is on and scans my face when I try to deactivate it, but no luck! Apple needs to make the feature work as it’s designed!!

There are instructions on the Apple website about what you need to do in order to prepare your phone for a trade-in. Making sure Stolen Device Protection is turned off at home so you can avoid a possible security delay is on the list of instructions.

Agreed, it is useless function and it’s annoying. It has some risks when we are in emergency situations - we cannot wait for one hour to complete the tasks.

For the security risks, it did not mitigate anything. The theft can wait for one hour when he/ she has passcode. What is the meaning of delay and based on which statistic to come up with this function?

Please for a week now ..I can’t even go through my WhatsApp and some other Apps due to this stolen Device Protection ,it’s always asked me to turn Off it but it can’t recognize my face again ..am really really worried about this please .. it’s there help out here 🙏🙏🙏

i hate this function so much. i hate that the phone didnt warn me that i had to wait a hour before the function kicks in, and then have a hr window to do “something”. i missed the window because i didnt know there was a window. now im totally locked out of my account. contacting apple support was no help. i am typing this using the ID of another iphone. such a terrible design.

Does it matter to have cellular data, wifi connection, bluetooth or airplane mode selected on/off?

I agree! I am at home and it's asking me to wait for a 1 hour delay. It says I'll be notified - WHERE? and HOW? I don't get an email nor a notification!!

I didn’t put a security delay on but for some reason there is one active why?

How do I turn it off?

Just click on Face ID and passcode and turn off Require attention for Face ID.

Exactly what is the use of facial recognition!!!!!!
