Using carplay and talking on the phone causes entire system to crash

Every time I use carplay and talk on the phone my entire system becomes unresponsive and eventually crashes. The biggest issue is the radio volume and other functions become severely delayed or completely unresponsive for several minutes before it crashes. The volume is delayed and sometimes gos to full volume. Then you have to wait a while before it turns back down. It's a hazard.
