I saw people downloading DS emulators and i wanted to see what it was about. I downloaded a game from emulatorgames.net and deleted it quickly once my common sense kicked in. I am afraid I have put my phone through the worst of the worst. is there a way i can check if i have a virus or malware of some sort? thank you!

A non-jailbroken phone cannot be hacked, get a virus, or malware. You do not need any virus scan on your phone since it can’t be done. You are fine.
Install an antivirus if you have downloaded it from a website and not the app store. If it was the app store, you should be fine, just complete a network scan if you are too concerned, but the iPhone has decent enough security to where you shouldn't be concerned.
