WhatsApp chats not showing images, videos that was not deleted

WhatsApp chats are failing to display images and videos, despite them not being deleted. Using an iPhone 12 Pro Max with 128 GB memory and a 2TB iCloud storage plan, my last WhatsApp backup was on February 12th, totaling around 19GB. The issue began two days ago when WhatsApp suddenly ceased loading images and videos on my device, citing low phone memory. In an attempt to resolve it, I deleted numerous videos from my iPhone, but to no avail. Upon backing up WhatsApp chats on April 23rd, it only restored data from the past two or three days, leaving previous data inaccessible. Despite not deleting any images or videos from my chats, the missing data remains unaccounted for.

Unfortunately WhatsApp will store all its junk on your phone unless you download them, it will not offload it to iCloud .

I would clear out old stuff from your WhatsApp chats using WhatsApp in-app settings. Do you really want to keep videos someone sent you 2 years ago! If yes then download each one to your Photos app and turn on iCloud Photos. If you already have Save to Photos turned on in WhatsApp in-app settings, Chats, then you can safely wipe out the images from WhatsApp knowing they are in Photos.

Clearing out chats is the only way.
