Toggling different windows within Chrome and Word

I've just bought a new Macbook Air. Previously I could toggle windows/docs within each programme using command/tilde. For some reason this no longer works. Anyone else had this issue ?

Still works here just fine. Are you sure you have more than one window open for each app?

If you only have 1 window open, then nothing will happen when you tap command + tilde.

You can verify how many Windows you have opened for a specific app by right clicking or control+click on the app icon on the list. The section at the top will list the open windows for the app with a window icon next to each item.

Tabs inside a Window like those in a web browser are not windows.
