I have been working on FCP7 for many years on the same computer (macOS Sierra 10.12.6)
Never had this issue.
The message
Error: Out of Memory
shows up when trying to render
What can I do to fix it?

I did. Did not change.
I uninstalled an app (1.5 GB).
Same, no rendering.
Then I took the video short crisscrossed on several images.
With the dissolves gone. It now renders.
Who knows?
