Why is my iPhone not allowing me to restore media despite having enough storage?

I’m trying to restore my media but it’s not allowing me to do so. It says I need to free up 3.46 GB. I have enough space and storage on both my phone storage and iCloud. My phone storage has 21.9 GB that’s free and my cloud has over 150 GB of space. I’ve read a replay saying WhatsApp needs the double amount. And I’m pretty sure I have that. So I don’t know what’s wrong.

You're right, it's unusual for WhatsApp to require double the storage space for the restore process. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check for Hidden Storage Consumers:

  • Even though you have free space displayed, some hidden system files or temporary data might be consuming storage.

    • Clear iPhone Storage: Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage. Here, you can see a breakdown of storage usage by app and system files. Look for any apps consuming a significant amount of storage that you can clean up. Offload unused apps or delete unnecessary data from other apps.

  • Clear WhatsApp Cache: Go to Settings > WhatsApp > Chat Settings > Chat History > Clear Chat History. Choose "Clear" without selecting "Delete Chats" to clear the chat cache without deleting your actual chats. This might free up some temporary data used by WhatsApp.

2. Restart Phone and Reinstall WhatsApp (Last Resort):

  • Restart: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches that might be causing the issue.

  • Reinstall WhatsApp (Last Resort): This should be a last resort, as you'll need to reinstall your chats from a backup (if available). Make sure to create a recent iCloud backup before reinstalling: Settings > Profile Picture (Apple ID) > iCloud > WhatsApp Backup > Back Up Now. Then uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp. During setup, you'll be prompted to restore from a backup.

3. Contact WhatsApp Support:

If none of these solutions work, it's best to contact WhatsApp Support directly
