How do I bring up, open, create the proper Finder windows

Just for clarity. I've been using Macs for 35 years!! I still don't know this! The Finder windows that have shown up since an update [14.4.4] are not populated with the 'normal' and desired folders and drives. How do I change that/those?

Thanks. [not OS 10.11]

Well, that didn't work BECAUSE what I wanted was already there!!! The little arrow to the right of 'Favourites' was 'changed'. I clicked it and all was good. I had never needed that arrow so didn't know it existed. Thanks to all.
