Subtitles on BBC Iplayer

Although BBC IPlayer seems to work well on Apple TV, I can’t access subtitles. Can anyone help?

Subtitles in Apple TV+ shows When I’m watching a show on Apple TV+, there are no subtitles for the non-English part and I don’t know if this is an intentional thing or if is it a bug. This has been happening on and off for years at this point and I would love clarification from anyone who might know what is going on. Is this happening to anyone else?

Why can't Apple get subtitles right? Multilingual shows on Apple TV continue to be plagued by inept subtitling. Why, when watching the new “Land of Women” on an AppleTV set to English, with subtitles set to automatic, do I receive subtitles for English as well as Spanish?! Please provide a setting to turn this OFF. Neither automatic nor English works in subtitle settings.

BBC has said that they don’t (won’t) support subtitles on Apple TV.
