Trimmed section reappears when joining remaining 2 sections

I'm new to LogicProX on a Mac so please be patient. I selected a section of a track using cmd-T (twice), then deleted it with cmd-x. When I positioned the cursor to the lower part of the track on the right, the cursor changed and the "deleted" section REAPPEARED. When I continued to drag the right section toward the left section, the deleted section became part of the track again. Any ideas? Thanks!

Just figured it out. When I grabbed the right section and the cursor changed into a vertical bar, the cursor was exactly ON the left edge of the right section. When I grabbed the right section anywhere INSIDE that section (not right ON the left edge), the deleted section did NOT reappear and I was able to join the right section to the left.

Wish I had a nickel for each time I did THAT wrong!
