Unable to playback a rented Movie on Apple TV+

I purchased a movie, but when I try to watch it on my Roku, it says, “this type of content is not currently compatible on your device. To play, try again, using an apple device.”

I do not watch movies or TV on my iPhone, only on my TV through Roku.

What do I do? If you’re not going to let me watch my movie, can I get a refund?

Unfortunately, you cannot watch the movie you purchased on your Roku device because it is protected by Apple's FairPlay DRM technology, which is only supported on Apple devices. You may be able to get a refund for the movie if you contact Apple Support, but their refund policy is generally very strict.

The Apple TV app on Roku should support all iTunes Store movies and TV shows. It may not support iTunes Extras (bonus content) [2], but that should still stream through AirPlay.

Did you try playback from inside the Apple TV app on Roku, from the in-app Library? Or in some other way?

Did you do the purchase action on Roku or on iPhone? Was this title available in the Store tab of the Apple TV app on Roku?

Please contact the iTunes Store staff for issues with specific iTunes Store movie titles.

If it continues unresolved after that, then you may request a refund: Request a refund for apps or content that you bought from Apple - Apple Support
