How do I stop Safari from popping up on my iPhone?

When safari pops on my iPhone it will not do anything.. how can I get rid of it?

You cannot delete it, but it can be removed from your Home Screens. You can also set any other web browser as a default browser that will open up when you tap on a web link. I assume you already have another browser installed, just go into its settings to make it the Default Browser and you will not see Safari come up again.


The most common causes for Safari not being able to open a web page are:

  • VPN is installed
  • Extension installed on Safari preventing site access
  • Website data needs cleared
  • JavaScript is turned off
