Looks like the link for the download page on the FAQ page is broken. Click on "download" and up comes a page saying "File not found."
The "Download" tab on the Support page to which you linked works a bit better. There is a link to get a pre-built .DMG version built and tested on an Intel Mac running Monterey. There are also directions to set up your Mac to "Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere." That tells me that, unlike the developers of some other Open Source projects, the developers of this application did not register with Apple to become "identified developers", or did not "sign" the pre-built application with their developer ID.
I believe that the OP's 2017 MacBook Air can be upgraded as far as Monterey, but no later.

According to the developers of this app, it is only supported with macOS Mojave, Catalina, or Monterey.
