ipad boot loop - apple logo appearing and disappearing every few seconds

hi there, my ipad is stuck in a boot loop and won't switch on, but also won't shut down either, its just stuck in a loop showing the apple logo and then black screen over and over

I have tried a hard reset (hold down the home button and the power button) which does cause the screen to go black but then the apple logo appears and we're back to the loop again

I have apple devices app on my PC which does not recognise the ipad is attached to the PC

I also have itunes installed, same thing, does not recognise the ipad is connected

^ and so none of the "factory reset" options are available to me - the instructions for getting in to recovery mode are for iPHONE and don't apply to ipad - I have none the less tried every combination of holding volume and power buttons and that also doesn't get my ipad in to recovery mode and my PC does not recognise an ipad is connected

I have tested 2 cables (one of them brand new) and several ports on my PC which do work with other devices

I had to go on youtube to find the answer - the instructions on the apple site are incorrect

for PC, you need apple devices installed, you need to connect the ipad to the PC first, then with the ipad connected to the PC and apple devices running, you then hold down both the home button and the power button, you count to 3, release the power button but KEEP holding the home button

this then puts the ipad in recovery mode and a message appears on apple devices PC app to perform an update or restore

still hasn't worked though - apple devices said it couldn't be updated due to an error and then also failed to restore

when I power down the ipad and restart it it boots in to recovery mode every time, apple devices sees it and offer to restore but then it comes up with an error and fails

can the apple store do anything more to help?
