Cannot turn on calls on other devices

My iPhone and Mac Book Air are both signed into the same iCloud and Apple ID. All of my software on both devices is ip to date. But I get this message when I try to turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices on my iPhone: Cannot turn on calls on other Devices. Facetime and iCloud must be signed into the same Apple ID to allow calls on other devices.

This is the case. Furthermore, I can make some calls from my Macbook Air. Just not new numbers, even though I have set up contact cards for them.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 13.3

The message is very clear. Check the Apple ID that you have logged in with Apple ID and iMessage/FaceTime

See the pic below for more clarity.

Turn off and restart iMessage and FaceTime

  1. Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
  3. Restart your device.
  4. Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on.
