Can't make and receive calls on my Mac

I can’t make and receive phone calls on my mac despite having done all these steps

Receive phone calls and text messages on your Mac - Apple Support

Both devices are updated to their latest versions

I’ve also tried

- signing my icloud account out on both devices and signing back in

- restarting both devices

- toggling bluetooth on and off on both devices

- made sure the "Use your iPhone cellular account to make and receive calls when your iPhone is nearby and on Wifi” is turned on on facetime on my Mac

please this is a feature I find rather indispensable and handy and would like it to be resolved

I made a previous community post about it and help provided wasn't useful

The "iPhone Not Available" error on your Mac indicates a Continuity (Handoff) issue preventing calls via FaceTime, even after standard troubleshooting.[idownloadblog]

Verify FaceTime Settings on Mac

In FaceTime > Settings, ensure "Calls from iPhone" is enabled. Select your iPhone number (not just email) under "You can be reached for FaceTime at," and set FaceTime as the default for calls.

Adjust iPhone Settings

On iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices: Toggle it on and explicitly select your Mac. Also check Settings > FaceTime to confirm your phone number is active.

Additional Quick Fixes

Keep FaceTime open on Mac (it must run in background). Reset iPhone network settings (Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings), ensure same Wi-Fi, and test devices close together. If unresolved, contact Apple Support or your carrier for SIM/Carrier checks.

so here's my feedback guys, after over a month of giving up I figured out why it wasn't working

it has to do with my router having two bands 2.4GHz and 5GHz, so some time back I turned off 2.4GHz and only had the other turned on. in the process of racking my brains to figure out why it wasn't working I decided to try connecting to another device and it worked. so the conclusion I discovered was, when both my Mac and iPhone are on 2.4GHz it works, when one is on 2.4 and the other on 5 also works, but when both are on 5GHz it doesn't work

I'm yet to figure out why that is or if there might be an update that addresses this in the future

All my settings are below:

On iPhone:

  1. In Phone App Default Calling App is FaceTime Audio, Calls on Other Devices option is When Nearby (Under which I have toggled on my MacBook)
  2. In "FaceTime App" again Default Calling App is FaceTime Audio. Under you can be reached by FaceTime at I have selected both my mobile numbers as well as both email id. Under Caller ID I have selected one mobile number which is my primary mobile number.
  3. Wi-Fi Calling in Phone App is turned on for both numbers.
  4. FaceTime App is logged in with my Apple ID.

On Mac:

  1. Under You can be reached for FaceTime at, I have again selected the same as phone, both mobile numbers and mail id's.
  2. Calls from iPhone is selected.
  3. Under Start new calls from, I have selected my primary mobile number which is same as in Phone App.
  4. FaceTime App is logged in with my same Apple ID as my Phone.
  5. In the Phone App on Mac, Apple Account is logged in with the same Apple ID. Start new calls from is the same primary number, and Calls from iPhone is selected.
