My iPad Pro not charging after updating
I updated my IPad 3rd gen to 17.5 and now it won't charge. I have tried different chargers and cords. Anyone having the same issue?

Begin with a forced-restart of your iPad - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:
Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)
If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:
Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)
Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
Otherwise, these support pages should help with troubleshooting battery and charging issues:
Charge and monitor the iPad battery - Apple Support
If your iPad won't charge – Apple Support
Troubleshooting generally requires substitution of the Power Adapter and cable for another known-good item. Most models of iPad require a Power Adapter rated at 12W (i.e., 2.4A @5V) or greater to reliably charge. 5W Power Adapters (1.0A @5V) intended for older models of iPhone are inadequate to charge an iPad; if the iPad charges at all, charging will be very slow. Recent models of iPad are supplied with a 20W USB-C Power Adapter.
Some third-party USB-C power adapters (and portable PowerBanks) may not support USB PD (Power Delivery). Power Delivery mutually negotiates the charging voltage; the source, load and cable are all elements involved in the negotiation protocol. Unless the Power Adapter explicitly supports USB PD, it will almost certainly fail to charge the iPad; proprietary charging standards, such as QC (Quick Charge), are not supported.
Many computer USB ports also cannot source sufficient power to charge an iPad. Unless explicitly designed for charging connected devices, computer USB ports are typically limited to 0.5-1A @5V (i.e., 2.5-5.0W).
If you continue to experience difficulties when using an appropriate Power Adapter of 12W or greater, you might be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-support/id1130498044
You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad, Power Adapter and cable(s):
thanks for the above info. it worked! I went to the Genius Bar today and they only checked the cord. Did not say anything about shutting down or Accessories issue. I am so thankful I came to this site. I have only had this IPAD for 3 years, with light use. I did not want to buy another iPad..
Which chargers / power bricks are considered as an accessory?
I don’t understand why iPadOs would consider the charger as an accessory if it’s basic functionality. Now, if you ran out of battery what? This is absurd

Anything that isn't the iPad itself is an "accessory". "Accessory" doesn't have to mean "optional".
Thank you for a helpful intelligent response! It does seem to have cured the problem tho the iPad still seems to be draining very quickly so I think it’s on its way out anyway. Yesterday it just completely freaked out and refused to even accept the brand new charger cable and then I found yr message. At least it is charging again.

I've always had Settings>Face ID & Passcode>Accessories set to off but never have charging or battery drain issues.
I suspect this may not be the end of your issues, unfortunately.
did u solve the problem? ( I am thinking of downgrading to old ios )
I have the same ipad and it was broken for a while and changed the battery and the first thing I did was to update my software
so I really don’t know if it’s a software or the new battery problem

First, you can’t downgrade. Next, if YOU replaced the battery you broke something in the process.
Perhaps reading the 4 pages in this thread that you skipped over could provide some guidance. As the symptom can have many possible causes, you need to troubleshoot, as suggested in this message thread.
And Steve Jobs never said anything about an iPad stopping charging.
Mine started doing that now I did a forced reset 4 times nothing. I reset settings too. Nothing….
help
Thanks but that did nothing to fix the issue.. Tried it..Didn’t work 😖
All well and good if you can charge it!
What about if its dead and i cant do that
There are no 2 watt chargers. The lowest rated charger is Apple's 5W “cube”, which will not charge an iPad. The lowest power charger that can charge an iPad is 10W.
iPad pro will not charge after update. And the prior fix about allowing access when locked doesn’t work either. I’m tired of updates changing settings and all of these problems with updates.
My IPad is not locked but still will not charge. What do I do?
