No iPhone to my knowledge is made in Japan. Some parts may certainly come from Japan and other countries, but the phone was most assuredly made in China. Still, if you have an issue with the phone you purchased in December, you cannot return it for refund at this point. As others have suggested, schedule an appointment for evaluation and service options.

You are only eligible for a refund if the device is returned within 14 days of the original purchase date.

If you are having issues with your device, you will have to contact Apple to arrange service and repair.
