Final Cut Pro renders constantly, regardless of background rendering setting

Using iMac M1 with Sonoma 14.4.1, Final Cut version 10.7.1

Editing a 5 minute long 1080p video, with the content and timeline saved on a Samsung 1tb SSD.

The problem is I can't work whenever the project is rendering, and it seems to render immediately after the slightest action (like adding a basic transition between clips).

Deselecting the "Background Rendering" button makes no difference.

Thanks for your advice! Robert

Do you see it rendering when you open the background tasks window?

If background render is off, this of course should not happen. But perhaps there are other tasks going on?

As usual, when the application misbehaves, try deleting its preferences.

d To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting the application and click Delete Settings. Reopen the library you were working on and see how it goes.
